
Annette Jolles has created a diverse body of work as a director and producer for theater and television and is the recipient of 29 Emmy Awards. She has directed numerous Live From Lincoln Center broadcasts including solo concerts starring Cynthia Erivo, Sutton Foster, Leslie Odom, Jr., Norm Lewis, and Patina Miller; concerts for Mostly Mozart and the NY Philharmonic; and three Richard Tucker galas. She also produced PBS’ Stars on Stage, directing episodes starring Brandon Victor Dixon and Shoshana Bean. For Great Performances, she directed the broadcast of David Henry Hwang’s Yellow Face starring Daniel Dae Kim, and this season will direct the capture of the Public Theater’s Romeo & Juliet at Shakespeare in the Park. Also, for PBS, directing includes two Michael Feinstein specials from the Rainbow Room and numerous episodes of Amanpour, Firing Line, Metrofocus, NYC-Arts, and programs for All Arts including Ariel Quartet at The Green-Wood Catacombs, Nefesh Mountain at Caramoor, Daedalus Quartet at the Howland Cultural Center, and more. Stage direction includes Amahl and the Night Visitors (Geffen Hall), Peter and the Wolf (BAM), The Soldier’s Tale featuring Danny Burstein (La Jolla Music Society), the world premiere of Bess Welden’s Madeleines at Portland Stage, and the Off-Broadway/world premieres of That Time of the Year and Little by Little (The York Theatre Company). Directing for additional special events includes The Singing Heart at David Geffen Hall, the world premiere of John Luther Adams’ In the Name of the Earth at St. John the Divine, and a nationwide tour featuring Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor of the historic Redwing mission in Afghanistan. At NYC’s Symphony Space, she has produced and directed over 50 programs, notably Wall to Wall Bernstein, Wall to Wall Sondheim, Frank Sinatra at 100, Project Broadway, and gala concerts of Pippin, A Little Night Music, Cabaret, Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life, and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours. She teaches Musical Theater Performance at Yale.
