Stephen Bard

Stephen Bard

Oboist Stephen Bard has performed internationally with period instrument orchestras and chamber ensembles including Tafelmusik, Philharmonia Baroque, Portland Baroque, Arion, Le Concert d’Astrée, American Bach Soloists, Tempesta di Mare, Washington Bach Consort, Folger Consort, Chicago Opera Theater, Les Boréades, REBEL, Musica Angelica, and Aradia Ensemble. He has appeared at the Oregon Bach Festival, Vancouver Early Music Festival, Mostly Mozart Festival, Klang & Raum Musikfestival, Festival Internacional de las Artes de Castilla y León, and the Huntsville Festival of the Arts (Ontario). His discography includes recordings on the Chandos, Naxos, CBC, and ATMA Classique labels. He also teaches at the University of Delaware. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College.

Her versatility is reflected in a wide-ranging discography which includes concerti by Tartini, Haydn, Vivaldi and Kalliwoda and Sonatas by Biber, Handel, Fauré, Raff and Lutosławski. Her CDs have been “CD of the month” at Tacet and Naxos, and her Tartini and Handel recordings “Selection of the month” in the magazine “The Strad”. She has worked with contemporary artists on creating new works and genres such as Caspar Johannes Walter’s Violin-Concerto Zeichnungen and Christoph Coburger’s “Opera Mono” Herr K und Frau N which includes video installation.
